HAYWOOD COUNTY, N.C. (828newsNOW) — Deputies with the Haywood County Sheriff’s Office, in coordination with the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation, arrested a Tennessee fugitive Tuesday morning after locating him at a residence on Sheepback Mountain.
Authorities said 46-year-old Henry Dean Clark, who was wanted out of Lincoln County, Tennessee, refused to cooperate after law enforcement made contact at the home in the morning. Deputies attempted to de-escalate the situation through verbal commands, encouraging Clark to exit the residence peacefully.
When those efforts were unsuccessful, officers deployed chemical munitions in the afternoon as part of continued attempts to end the standoff without violence. Clark then surrendered and was taken into custody without incident.
He is being held without bond at the Haywood County Detention Center under a fugitive warrant.
According to officials, Clark faces multiple charges in Tennessee, including sexual contact with a minor, felony unlawful possession of a firearm, contributing to the delinquency of a minor, providing a handgun to a juvenile and failure to appear on several charges.
