ASHEVILLE, N.C. (828newsNOW) — Snow is back in the forecast for Western North Carolina. But accumulation is more likely in the areas near the Tennessee line, according to the National Weather Service. Two inches or more is likely on higher ridges by 7 a.m. Tuesday. Temperatures become a little milder Wednesday.

The forecast for the week, according to the National Weather Service:

  • Monday: Increasing clouds with a high near 41. North wind 7 to 9 mph.
  • Monday night: A 30 percent chance of snow showers, mainly before midnight. Mostly cloudy with a low around 17. North northwest wind 7 to 10 mph with gusts as high as 18 mph. Little or no snow accumulation is expected.
  • Tuesday: Sunny with a high near 34. North-northwest winds around 10 mph.
  • Tuesday night: Clear with a low around 14. North-northwest winds around 5 mph becoming calm in the evening.
  • Wednesday: Sunny with a high near 49.
  • Wednesday night: Partly cloudy with a low around 31.
  • Thursday: Sunny with a high near 46.
  • Thursday night: Mostly clear with a low around 16.
  • Friday: Sunny with a high near 42.
  • Friday night: Mostly clear with a low around 21.
