BUNCOMBE COUNTY, N.C. (828newsNOW) — Three men have been arrested in connection with a break-in at the Buncombe County Schools Family Resource Center in Candler and the theft of items from several school buses at Enka High School, authorities said.

Detectives with the Buncombe County Sheriff’s Office charged Brian Walta, Joshua Walta, and Marshall Pye following the incidents, which were reported earlier this week.

Brian Walta faces multiple charges, including felony breaking and entering, two counts of felony larceny after breaking and entering, two counts of conspiracy to commit felony larceny, obtaining property by false pretense, possession of a firearm by a felon, two counts of breaking and entering a motor vehicle, injury to personal property, and possession of stolen goods.

Joshua Walta was charged with felony breaking and entering, felony larceny after breaking and entering, two counts of conspiracy to commit felony larceny, felony breaking and entering of a motor vehicle, felony larceny, and possession of a firearm by a felon.

Marshall Pye was taken into custody on Feb. 26 with assistance from the U.S. Marshals Service. He faces charges of felony larceny, conspiracy to commit felony larceny, and probation violations in Buncombe County and Alabama.

District 2 Captain Angie Tullis praised the detectives’ efforts, noting the quick recovery of stolen items.

“I would like to thank our team of detectives for their hard work and dedication to this case,” Tullis said. “They had all the items recovered in a little more than 24 hours after the crime was reported.”
