ASHEVILLE, N.C. (828newsNOW) — The Asheville Tourists’ home games this season will be played amid a $38.5 million renovation project at historic McCormick Field.
The home opener for what has been dubbed the “Ballpark Changeup Season” is scheduled for Tuesday, April 8, against the Greenville Drive.
The work to bring the facility in line with Minor League Baseball’s Professional Development League standards is set to be completed by April 2026.
In the meantime, baseball fans will have to navigate some obstacles to see the High-A affiliate of the Houston Astros at home.
Here are some tips for visiting McCormick Field:
McCormick Field will only be open during home games. Gates will open one hour before the first pitch. Because of construction, the ballpark will be closed to the public at all other times.
Parking and shuttle service
Parking around McCormick Field will be extremely limited during the season. To help fans, the Tourists have partnered with Gray Line Trolley Tours of Asheville to offer a complimentary shuttle from the Ironwood Parking Garage at 45 Federal Alley (behind Swannanoa Cleaners on Coxe Avenue).
The shuttle will run continuously beginning 60 minutes before the first pitch until the end of the game. The garage is 0.4 miles from the stadium and charges $2 per hour. Shuttle service will be available for all home games except April 26 and June 28.
Tourists Trap merchandise store
The Tourists Trap merchandise store will be open only during home games. Fans can also shop online anytime at TouristsTrap.com.

Protective netting will be in place in front of all field-level seating, including Sections A, B and S. Portions of Sections MM, NN, R and S will have obstructed views of the left field corner.
