ASHEVILLE, N.C. (828newsNOW) — The Asheville Tourists’ 2025 season schedule is official. The home opener is set for April 8 versus the Greenville Drive. Asheville will also play at home on July 4, Mother’s Day, Memorial Day Weekend and Labor Day Weekend. Opening day is officially April 4 with the Tourists on the road at Greensboro.

Games at Asheville’s McCormick Field are going to look a little different this season. The historic park is undergoing a $38.5 million project to bring the facility in line with Minor League Baseball’s Professional Development League standards.

Some areas of the ballpark may be closed during certain parts of the season. Although renovations will not be complete until April 2026, Tourists officials said on the team’s website they are excited for the “Ballpark Changeup” season.

The Tourists have even worked the construction project into a T-shirt that says, “If You Build It, They Will Come.” Click here to see the shirt.

MCCORMICK FIELD COMING UNDONE

The team still needs to fill about 100 part-time, game-day positions for the 2025 season, Tourists owner Brian DeWine said. Head to Hatch Coworking Asheville from 10 a.m.-noon Saturday, March 1, for open interviews. Click here to preregister or have a manager contact you.

The team is looking for cashiers, in-seat servers, cooks, ushers, press box, ticket sellers, grounds crew, clean-up crew, parking attendants and more.

DeWine said the best part about working for the Tourists is that your office is the ballpark!

The team’s 132-game schedule features 66 home games — 60 of those are broken up into 10 six-game series that include a Thirsty Thursday, Dollar Dog/Fireworks Friday and games throughout the weekend. The remaining six games are split between two three-game sets; one over the July 4 weekend and the other over the weekend of July 18-20.

$38.5 MILLION MCCORMICK FIELD MAKEOVER ON COUNCIL AGENDA

The team will be headed by Nate Shaver, who will serve as manager for the fifth consecutive year. Shaver (218 wins with Asheville) is on the cusp of moving into fourth place on the Tourists All-Time Managerial Wins list. An 87-win regular season would even move him into the top three alongside South Atlantic League Hall of Famers Joe Mikulik and Ray Hathaway.

The fifth-year skipper will be joined by Tourists third-year development coach Eric Stamets, first-year hitting coach TJ Burgmann and first-year pitching coach Zach Wilkins. Also new to the Asheville field staff in 2025 are trainer Eric Pimentel and strength and conditioning Coach Cesar Vina.

Single-game tickets, including opening day, will go on sale March 5. Season tickets, group tickets and flex ticket plans are available by calling 828-258-0428.
