ASHEVILLE, N.C. (828newsNOW) — The Asheville Police Department is investigating a fatal collision that occurred in West Asheville yesterday.

APD officers responded to a motor vehicle collision around 11:23 a.m., Sunday, June 15 near Exit 1B on Interstate 240 West. Preliminary findings indicate that Dustin Lee Hensley, 34, operating a 2012 Ford pickup truck towing a trailer of hay bales, was traveling westbound on I-240 when he lost control of the vehicle, resulting in truck and trailer rolling over.

Hensley and a passenger were transported to Mission Hospital, where Hensley succumbed to his injuries. Next of kin has been notified.

The passenger sustained minor injuries. 

I-240 West was closed for an hour while APD officers worked the scene.
