ASHEVILLE, N.C. (828newsNOW) — The 30th annual Twin Rivers Media Festival will be coming to Asheville this weekend, bringing over 60 independent films from all over the world with it.

The event will be held at 6:30 p.m., Friday, May 30 and from 10:30 a.m. to 5 p.m., Saturday, May 31 at the Flood Gallery Fine Art Center, 802 Fairview Road.

On Friday night, the festival’s signature feature film will be presented. This year, “Martyr of Gowanus,” directed by Brian Meere, will occupy the spot.

In “Martyr of Gowanus,” “a troubled Brooklyn man who watches the attacks of 9/11 must choose between love and hate,” the Flood Gallery wrote.

On Saturday, a variety of short films will be shown throughout the day in their respective categories:

  • 10:30 a.m. – Doors open
  • 11 to 11:30 a.m. – Anti-War and Anti-War Tax films
  • 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. – Animation
  • 1 to 3 p.m. – Short Dramas
  • 3 to 4 p.m. – Experimental films
  • 4 to 5 p.m. – Documentaries and discussions

Tickets for the Friday night screening are $10, tickets for Saturday are $15 with entry at any time and tickets for both days are $20. Tickets can be purchased at www.filmfreeway.com/trmf/tickets.
