ASHEVILLE, N.C. (828newsNOW) — Asheville Fire Department arson investigators helped locate a suspect in a March 31 apartment fire and detectives took him into custody on Monday morning, the Asheville Police Department reported.
Alexander Christian Davis, 26, had been wanted in connection with a March 31 fire that caused extensive damage to a unit at an apartment complex on Atkinson Street. Nobody was inside the apartment at the time, but investigators determined the fire was intentionally set, police said in a release.
Last week, police issued a release asking for the public’s help to locate Davis. According to a release, AFD arson investigators did locate Davis around 8:45 a.m. Monday on North Anne Street, and detectives took him into custody.
Davis has been charged with First Degree Arson and was booked into Buncombe County Detention Facility on a no bond hold, meaning he is ineligible for release.
“The Asheville Police and Fire Departments would like to thank the public for their help in this case,” the release stated.
