ASHEVILLE, N.C. (828newsNOW) —  Asheville Fire Department crews are on the scene of a fire at Mountain Metals Recycling on Pond Road.

Around 2 p.m. today, Sept. 17, a fire was reported near the Mountain Metals Recycling recycling center in South Asheville. The facility is located at 79 Pond Road between Brevard Road and McIntosh Road along Hominy Creek.

Smoke from the fire was visible by travelers headed down I-26.

According to the AFD Facebook page, more details about the working fire are to come.
