ASHEVILLE, N.C. (828newsNOW) — Democratic vice presidential nominee Tim Walz will make a campaign stop in Asheville on Tuesday.

The visit will be the Harris-Walz campaign’s first to Western North Carolina. Vice President Kamala Harris made campaign stops in Charlotte and Greensboro last week.

North Carolina is considered to be one of a handful of key battleground states in the 2024 presidential election.

Former President Donald Trump rallied with supporters at an event at the Thomas Wolfe Auditorium in Asheville in mid-August.

The time and location for the Walz event have not been announced. Attendees must RSVP online. Rally details will be announced to confirmed guests only, according to the Mobilize.us page. An RSVP is required but does not guarantee admission.

Road Closures:

A spokesperson for the Asheville Police Department says there will be rolling road closures on Interstate 26 Tuesday evening as the campaign makes its way from the airport to the event venue and back. No exact time was given just yet.
