ASHEVILLE, N.C. (828newsNOW) — Asheville police are investigating several gunshots early Sunday that likely stemmed from an argument in a downtown parking lot.
“Thankfully, no one was injured and only property damage has been reported at this time,” police said in a news release.
According to the news release, officers responded to numerous gun discharges in downtown Asheville about 1:29 a.m. Sunday, March 2. As officers attempted to identify the location and individuals involved, a person called and reported a bullet had struck the window of their residence on Woodfin Street.
Officers found a bullet hole in the window and a bullet in the opposite wall. Officers also found two vehicles — a Ford Fusion with four bullet holes and a Dodge Charger with two bullet holes — that had sustained damage.
A preliminary investigation indicated the gunshots were the result of an argument in a parking lot of a business on North Lexington Street, police said in the news release.
The investigation is active and ongoing, police said.
