The weekend weather starts with a wind advisory in effect for Western North Carolina through 10 a.m. Saturday.
The advisory from the National Weather Service predicts winds of 20 to 30 mph, with some gusts reaching up to 55 mph in mountainous parts of the region.
The agency warns of the potential for falling tree limbs and scattered power outages, and cautioned drivers of high-profile vehicles that winds could make driving difficult.
In the Asheville area, the Friday forecast called for partly cloudy skies, with high temperatures to reach 56 degrees, dipping to 45 degrees at night. There’s a 17 percent chance of rain.
Saturday should be sunny, with a high of 64 degrees and low of 46 degrees.
Sunday starts a warmup under partly cloudy skies, with a high of 76 degrees and low of 66 degrees.
Temperatures should hover in that range, or slightly warmer, over the coming week, with mostly sunny or partly cloudy conditions through Tuesday and the first chance of rain (17 percent) on Wednesday. The area could hit the 80 degree mark on Thursday.
