Grove Street Fish Fry

Calling all seafood fanatics and fry fans: The sizzle is on and the Grove Street Community Center is cookin’ up a storm at its legendary Fish Fry! Pre-register and grab your ticket for $5 before they disappear faster than a school of minnows. This is your chance to savor a taste of summer and support Grove Street Community Center’s programs.

Summer Skate Jam

Show your skating skills and jam to the music! Rent skates for $3 or bring your own. There is no fee to participate. Summer Skate Jam is the first and fourth Friday of the month at Carrier Park’s outdoor rink.

Summer Cycle 2024

Summer Cycle ‘24 sponsored by Mosaic Community Lifestyle Realty returns to New Belgium Brewing this Saturday, Aug. 24. The event includes three routes, a pop-up bicycle park sponsored by Sprinkle Creek Landscaping, and kids’ bike demos by Kid Cycle Club.

20th Annual Asheville 48 Hour Film Project Awards Night Gala

You can celebrate local and regional filmmakers at the 20th Annual Asheville 48 Hour Film Project Awards Night Gala! The evening will feature a screening of the “Best Of the 48” short films from this year’s competition followed by an “Oscar’s Style” awards ceremony, and announcement of Asheville’s Best Film winner who will represent our city at the international Filmapalooza Film Festival, and earn a chance to be screened at Cannes!

3rd annual HarvestFest set for this weekend

An event that celebrates community, farmers and music will also help families that worry about having enough food each month. HarvestFest — now in its third year — benefits ASAP’s Double SNAP for Fruits and Vegetables program, which was launched in 2019. The program allows SNAP participants to get as much as $20 extra to spend on fresh fruits and vegetables at participating farmers markets. This year’s HarvestFest is set for 3-6 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 25, at Olivette Farms’ Riverside Park. There will be family games and activities, a silent auction and the Jackson Grimm Band will kick off at 4 p.m.
