2024 NC Apple Festival

The 2024 North Carolina Apple Festival will take place in downtown Hendersonville from Friday, Aug. 30 through Monday, Sept. 2. The street festival starts at 10 a.m. on Friday, Aug. 30 with the opening ceremony taking place at 2:15 p.m. at the Historic Henderson County Courthouse.

Alien Contact Tour 2024

Looking for something different to do Friday night? Head to Marshall, where you can participate in a nationwide effort to contact aliens. The 2024 Alien Contact Tour starts off at 7 p.m. at Mill Ridge Trailhead where folks will be guided on a hike then a meditation session to “reach out to our alien friends.”

Earl Scruggs Music Festival

The Earl Scruggs Music Festival honors the life and legacy of American icon and musical legend, Earl Scruggs, who was born in the small Flint Hill community of nearby Cleveland County, NC. Bringing the best of bluegrass, Americana, and roots music together, the festival takes place at the Tryon International Equestrian Center from Aug. 30 to Sept. 1.

Emerald Village Black Light Nighttime Underground Mine Tours

For an “out-of-this-world” experience visit Emerald Village in Little Switzerland on special evenings to see fluorescent minerals come to life. Guided nighttime underground mine tours unlock vibrant hidden colors available only under ultraviolet light, commonly called black light. The brilliant coatings in the Bon Ami Mine are largely deposits of hyalite opal.
