Fiber Workshop
Weaving artist Maya Rosenbaum is set to teach her craft this Saturday. At 1 p.m. on Dec. 14 at the Black Mountain College Museum + Art Center, Rosenbaum will pass on the weaving tradition from Black Mountain College to you. Participants will learn basic loom work in this hands on event.

Holiday Skate Jam
Ever thought Harrah’s Cherokee Center should be a roller skating rink? Well, now you have. From 6-9 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 13, the floor you normally stand on for concerts and speeches will be transformed into a massive roller skating party. See Harrah’s Cherokee Center as you’ve never see it before for the unbeatable price of free if you bring your own skates. A limited quantity of skates will be available for rental.

Sleigh Bell Hanger Leathercrafting Workshop
Looking to get your hands dirty working on a holiday craft? Axe & Awl Leatherworks in Maggie Valley is holding a workshop, teaching the basics of leathercraft. At the end of the lesson, you get to take home a sleigh bell hanger you made. This workshop will be held from 5-9 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 13 in Waynesville.

The Sound of Music
After their production was cut short due to Hurricane Helene, the Asheville Community Theater is back with their rendition of the classic Rodger & Hammerstein musical. Some showings include special features including a pay what you can night, a sing-along performance, a Descriptive Audio for the Sight Impaired (DASI) assisted show for those with hearing difficulties and a show with an American Sign Language (ASL) translator. The production is set to run most nights until Dec. 22.

UNC Asheville Men’s Basketball vs. Western Carolina
Two of the largest universities in WNC go head to head in a basketball game this Saturday afternoon in Asheville. The UNC Asheville Bulldogs take on the Western Carolina Catamounts at 2 p.m. on Dec. 14 in Kimmel Arena. Tickets are on sale now.
