Create Beadwork Art – Ring in the arrival of Spring by exploring your creativity through beading. Participants will have the opportunity to craft beaded animals at 3:30 p.m. on Saturday, March 22 at the Murphy-Oakley Community Center. The event is open to children ages 5 and up. No registration is required.
Dancing to the 70’s – Get your groove on at this 1970’s themed dance party – whether or not you are old enough to remember the decade. From 6 – 9 p.m. on Friday, March 21 at the Wells Events Center in Waynesville, partake in festivities including music, a bar and food truck, and as much dancing as you can stomach. Tickets for admission are $22.00.
Harlem Globetrotters – Perhaps the most iconic non-NBA basketball team, the Harlem Globetrotters are known for their incredible athleticism, showmanship and family-friendly entertainment. Dribbling into Asheville this weekend, the nearly 100-year-old comedy basketball troop will be performing at Harrah’s Cherokee Center. Tickets vary based on seating.
Moog Synthesizer Demonstration – Musician and author Craig Anderton is scheduled to lead a workshop called “Synthesizer and Sampler Secrets.” From 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. on Saturday, March 22 at the Moogseum, take the “masterclass” in the midst of Bob Moog’s legacy.
Taylor Swift for Kids – The Grey Eagle has joined a group of historic music venues across the country in The Rock and Roll Playhouse series. The concerts are geared at raising the next generation of music-lovers by playing age-appropriate tunes. At noon on Sunday, March 23, join other Swifties for a party in The Grey Eagle. This event is intended for families with children 10 and under. Tickets are $19.95 per person.
Twelve Wild Geese Show – It is hard to explain this show, but that might just be the point. The ad tantalizingly beckons, “What happens when you put five extraordinary musicians and one legendary storyteller in a room with an overhead projector and paint?” Find out what that means at 2 p.m. on Saturday, March 22 at the Black Mountain Center for the Arts. Tickets are $15 for adults and $10 for children.
