Asheville Improv Festival

The Asheville Improv Festival is underway, running nightly through May 10. Hear the raucous statements of local and national comedians at 7 p.m. on Saturday at the North Carolina Stage Company. Pre-ordered tickets will receive a discount.

“Mom’s the Word” Comedy Show 

Enough with the dad jokes. Celebrate mom with a comedy show geared toward the jokes mothers tell. Celebrate Mother’s Day with this stand-up show from 6 – 9 p.m. on Saturday, May 10 at the Montford Rooftop Bar. Event organizers promise a night of “laughter, love, and a touch of playful motherly chaos!”

Mother’s Day Sale 

Brunch is never a bad option for Mother’s Day, but if you forgot to make reservations this year, consider checking out the Mother’s Day Sale at Garden Party. From 1 – 5 p.m. on Saturday, May 10, browse pop-up stores for a unique shopping spree of baked goods and handmade art.

Movies in the Park 

One of Asheville’s favorite summertime traditions returns at 8 p.m. on Friday, May 9 at Pack Square Park. The movie scheduled for this month at the amphitheater is Moana 2. Asheville Parks and Recreation are hosting the screening and recommend attendees “bring blankets and lawn chairs” to make the show more comfortable.

World Bonsai Day 

Hoping for a quieter Mother’s Day weekend? Consider the World Bonsai Day celebration at The North Carolina Arboretum on Saturday and Sunday, May 10 – 11. The Blue Ridge Bonsai Society will be offering exhibitions of their trees and informative programming on both days.
