HENDERSON COUNTY, N.C. (828newsNOW) — Gerton/Bat Cave area residents are urged to mark their calendars for events planned on Monday, Feb. 24.
The Henderson County Board of Commissioners has announced it will hold a special meeting — A Gerton/Bat Cave Community Workshop — at 5:30 p.m. at Bat Cave Baptist Church, 5095 Chimney Rock Road.
The Upper Hickory Nut Gorge Disaster Resource Fair is also set for that day at Bat Cave Baptist Church. The resource fair — set for 1-6:30 p.m. — is for Bat Cave and Gerton residents to work on applications for assistance through FEMA or the SBA. Residents can learn more about Hazard Mitigation Grants and apply for Private Property Debris Removal and ask questions to Environmental Health and the Permit Office. Nonprofits and free legal aid representatives will be attending, as well.
Travel to this area of Henderson County is restricted to residents and crews working on recovery efforts, so these events are geared for Gerton and Bat Cave residents.
