After Paul Vest, longtime CEO of the YMCA of Western North Carolina, announced his retirement earlier this year, the organization has named a successor. Tim Blenco, current chief operating officer of the YMCA of WNC, will step into the leadership position on Dec. 1, 2025.

Next month, Embassy Suites by Hilton Asheville Downtown will host a Thanksgiving Buffet charity benefit. The community is invited to partake in a meal to benefit Eblen Charities and 12 Baskets Café. The Thanksgiving Buffet will be held from noon to 5 p.m., Thursday, Nov. 27 at the Embassy Suites, 192 Haywood St.
The city of Asheville has shared an update on the water pre-treatment systems that have been temporarily installed at the North Fork and DeBruhl water treatment plants. These systems, installed after Hurricane Helene hit the plants in September 2024, will remain in place through Nov. 30, 2025, thanks to funding from the Federal Emergency Management Agency.
Organized by the North Carolina Governor’s Highway Safety Program, Operation Crash Reduction will run from Oct. 6-12.
