To mark the one year anniversary of Hurricane Helene and the resilience of Western North Carolina in its aftermath, Root Cause Farm, a volunteer-based nonprofit dedicated to combatting community hunger, will hold a gathering to celebrate recovery and the local bonds which define the Fairview farm and its mission.

Old Europe Pastries pledges 100% of Sept. 27 sales to Helene recovery

This weekend marks one year since Hurricane Helene hit Western North Carolina. In remembrance of the hardships endured by the Asheville community since the storm, local pastry shop Old Europe Pastries will donate 100% of sales made on the day of the anniversary to continued relief efforts.

$2,000 raised for BeLoved Asheville at Soprana Rooftop Cucina event

The event, Rooftop for Relief was held from 5:30 to 10 p.m., Thursday, Sept. 11 at the rooftop restaurant, with free admission for the public. The fundraiser saw $2 from every pizza sold and $5 from two signature cocktails featuring Cultivated Cocktails spirits donated to BeLoved, as well as 100% of the proceeds from a raffle.

Local business bake sale, donation drive to benefit BeLoved Asheville

The Uplifting Deals Bake Sale and Donation Drive will be held from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., Saturday, Sept. 27, at Uplifting Wholesale Warehouse, 128 Bingham Road. Live music and hot food will be available from noon to 4 p.m., while the bake sale and donation collection will be ongoing for the duration of the event.

Pawpaw ice cream returns to The Hop, plus Asheville GreenWorks event

The pawpaw fruit for the ice cream, which will come to The Hop on Oct. 3, comes from Milkweed Meadows Farm, a family farm located outside of Hendersonville. The farm maintains an orchard of over 100 pawpaw trees to nurture zebra swallowtails, a butterfly which relies entirely on the leaves of the tree.
