HENDERSONVILLE, N.C. (828newsNOW) — In the wake of Hurricane Helene, Crossnore Communities for Children has witnessed the incredible strength of its community and the unwavering and unmatched support of its staff and supporters. The storm left a trail of destruction, but it also brought out the best in the Crossnore community, demonstrating the power of collective action and support during a time of true crisis.
Building resilience to trauma is at the core of everything Crossnore does, and healing is their specialty. It is obvious that this mission is more important than ever.
In the days following the storm, the Crossnore staff went above and beyond, working tirelessly to clear paths through fallen trees and debris, deliver essential supplies to impacted areas, and entertain children, all while navigating the challenges of not having power or running water. Crossnore’s dedication to hope and healing continued without pause, ensuring that children and families in their care received the support they needed.
“We are deeply moved by the quick and generous responses from our community,” says Brett Loftis, CEO of Crossnore Communities for Children. “We are forever grateful for everyone who jumped in to help during this crisis.”
CROSSNORE WEAVES WHOLE CHILD CARE INTO ROBUST CONTINUUM OF CARE
As Crossnore continues its work in the Asheville/Hendersonville region, the need for ongoing financial support is vital. Crossnore’s fundamental services, including community foster care and clinical therapy, have proven essential in supporting the children and families who rely on them.
The success of Crossnore’s The Promise of Home Campaign is allowing the organization to expand critical services, including the Bridging Families© program, which facilitates the reunification of biological families with their children. North Carolina’s Department of Health and Human Services has just contracted with Crossnore to make Bridging Families its professional foster care model for the state. Additionally, family preservation services are keeping children from entering foster care in the first place. The organization has just purchased a permanent building on Greenville Highway in Hendersonville, laying down permanent roots in the area.
A LOCAL NONPROFIT HOPES TO BENEFIT FROM GIVING TUESDAY
During this season of giving, Crossnore Communities for Children is asking for continued support to expand its mission.
“Children and families throughout North Carolina are stronger, healthier, safer, and better prepared for future successes because of your financial support,” says Loftis.
