ASHEVILLE, N.C. (828newsNOW) — The rain has stopped but several flood advisories remain in effect across Western North Carolina.
A Flood Warning is in effect until 5 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 31, for the French Broad River at Blantyre affecting Transylvania and Henderson counties. Farmland flooding is happening on both sides of the French Broad River, the National Weather Service said. Floodwaters were begining to impact boat access areas at Grove Bridge Road and Crab Creek Road. At 6 p.m. Sunday, the stage was 15.2 feet. Bankfull stage is 15 feet. The river is expected to rise above flood stage late this evening to a crest of 16.5 feet tomorrow morning. It will then fall below flood stage tomorrow afternoon. Flood stage is 16.0 feet. This crest compares to a previous crest of 15.3 feet on April 29, 2013.
The National Weather Service has issued a Flood Advisory for Burke and McDowell counties until 11 p.m. Monday, Dec. 30.
At 7:28 a.m., Lake James was 101.1 feet, and minor flooding was ongoing. According to the National Weather Service, Duke Energy predicts the lake level will crest below 101.5 feet, which is below flood stage.
Common, nuisance flooding of low-lying areas adjacent to Lake James is underway. Lake James is approaching homes and other structures along Island Circle, Moose Campground Road and Houseboat Lane, the National Weather Service said. Floodwaters may begin entering Linville Shores Campground. Lake James may be flooding lake-access areas with up to 2 feet of inundation. Campgrounds along the Lake James shoreline may experience floodwater inundation of up to 1 foot.
Buncombe County is under a Flood Advisory until 1 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 31. At 7.5 feet, action stage flooding continues along the French Broad River. Floodwaters continue to flow into Woodfin Riverside Park, the floodplain adjacent to Craggy Dam Reservoir, Carrier Park and French Broad River Park as well as other low-lying areas within the floodplain. Floodwaters may be approaching Amboy Road and Lyman Street. Local small tributaries, including Smith Mill Creek near Emma Road, may be exceeding bankfull levels.
A Flood Advisory is in effect until 7 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 31, for the French Broad River near Fletcher in Henderson and Buncombe counties. At 11.5 feet, action stage flooding continues, the National Weather Service said. Butler Bridge Road is inundated with up to 6 inches of floodwaters from the French Broad River, forcing road closure. At 7:30 p.m. Sunday, the stage was 9.8 feet. The river is expected to crest at 11.5 feet just after midnight tonight. Action stage is 10.0 feet. Flood stage is 13.0 feet.
Although the rain has stopped, another cold front is expected to bring light rain back on Tuesday. Much colder and drier conditions are expected Wednesday into the weekend. Some light wintry precipitation is possible in the North Carolina mountains over the weekend.

Tuesday Night: A 20 percent chance of showers before midnight. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 34. Northwest wind 8 to 16 mph, with gusts as high as 34 mph.
New Year’s Day: Mostly sunny, with a high near 44. Northwest wind 14 to 16 mph, with gusts as high as 34 mph.
Wednesday Night: Mostly clear, with a low around 25.
Thursday: Sunny, with a high near 45.
Thursday Night: Mostly clear, with a low around 25.
Friday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 44.
