ASHEVILLE, N.C. (828newsNOW) — For six years, Linda Ogle, lovingly known as “Nan” by her family, fought a brave battle with leukemia. Her dream was to see her granddaughter’s wedding.
“I’ve been fighting this leukemia so hard, and I prayed and prayed I could live long enough to go to the wedding in April. I could see I wasn’t going to make it. I didn’t quite understand it, but that special day here cleared it all up. It was perfect,” Ogle said. “The Lord had a plan, and He fulfilled it. We had a wonderful time, and I understand now why things turned out like they did.”
When her condition worsened last week, and she was admitted to hospice, family and CarePartners Hospice staff organized a wedding in a matter of hours. On March 19, Ogle’s granddaughter, Cheney Ogle, walked down the aisle in the dress her grandmother helped her pick out last June.

Though Cheney and her partner, Marcus Haws, will exchange vows next month, they said they will cherish this unforgettable day for years to come.
“It was so meaningful to me and the other Solace staff to be a part of this special time with the family,” said Crislyn Baughman, a registered nurse at CarePartners Solace Center. “It was joyful for all of us to help this family, and it meant the world to me when Linda told me it was one of the happiest days of her life.”
The entire CarePartners team came together, including staff from the cafeteria, nurses, aides, environmental services, volunteers and others.
CarePartners Hospice said it was honored to be part of the occasion, and the family wanted to share these deeply personal moments with the community.
