ASHEVILLE, N.C. (828newsNOW) — In the words of Dre Head, the shrunken head on the Knight Bus in Harry Potter, “Fasten your safety belts, clench your buttocks! It’s going to be a bumpy ride!”
Heavy rain is expected from Sunday night through Tuesday across much of the Asheville area, according to the National Weather Service. Isolated areas may experience nuisance to minor flooding.
Forecasters said a stalled cold front over the Southeast this weekend will set the stage for unsettled weather. An upper-level low is expected to develop Sunday, drawing moisture north and bringing rain back into the area. The slow-moving system will keep conditions wet through the first half of next week.

The heaviest rainfall is anticipated from Sunday night through Tuesday, with the greatest risk for excessive rain on Monday and Monday night. Rain amounts may be enhanced along the escarpment due to upslope flow.
Temperatures Sunday and Monday will run 10 to 13 degrees below normal, the weather service said.
Residents are urged to monitor forecasts as the potential for excessive rainfall could lead to localized flooding.
