ASHEVILLE, N.C. (828newsNOW) — A cold front moving across the region Tuesday is expected to trigger scattered showers and thunderstorms, according to the National Weather Service.
High temperatures will reach into the 80s with humid conditions ahead of the front. Some storms may be strong, with gusty winds possible. Forecasters said isolated severe storms with locally damaging winds can’t be ruled out, especially along and east of the Interstate 77 corridor. The chance for severe weather diminishes as storms move east of the area by this evening, followed by a quieter, less humid night.
Wednesday is expected to be mostly sunny with lower humidity as the front stalls south of the region. Drier air and weak atmospheric subsidence should limit storm development across most of the area, forecasters said.
Storm chances increase again Thursday as the front reactivates, bringing a greater likelihood of showers and thunderstorms that may linger into early Friday. Temperatures are expected to trend warmer through the end of the week.
