ASHEVILLE, N.C. (828newsNOW) — The men of Asheville City wrapped up a lengthy road trip on Saturday night against Apotheos FC and dropped points for the first time this season in a scoreless draw.
The teams met for the second time this season and things were much different than the first. Asheville hosted their home opener against the same side back in May and thrashed them 10-0.
A motivated Apotheos side, coupled with the tiredness of the road trip, made for a frustrating night for the Blues as they struggled to get anything going on the attacking end for much of the match. The Blues can still clinch the South Central Division title with a win in either of their last two games or by Dothan dropping points against East Atlanta FC on July 8th.
“You won’t be hearing any complaints from me. We have been on the road since Monday with a quick pit stop back in Asheville and took 4 out of 6 points and are still unbeaten,” said Head Coach Scott Wells. “Wednesday will be three games in eight days until we can take a breather. Still a lot on the line before we can hit the recovery button. I’m proud of this group.”
The Blues travel back to Georgia to take on Southern Soccer Academy on July 9th before returning home to Greenwood Field on July 12th for the regular season finale against Tennessee SC. Buy your tickets here.
