ASHEVILLE, N.C. (828newsNOW) — If you have been experiencing back pain, chances are, one of the yoga classes at YogaSix Asheville might be able to help.

YogaSix Lead Teacher Ruth Ingram shared a few details about each class and how it might assist with your pain.

“When I meet people out and about and they hear that I’m a yoga teacher, a lot of times I hear ‘I want to do yoga because of back pain,'” Ingram said. “Here at YogaSix, we have six formats, six main classes, and each of them will help alleviate and strengthen your back in different ways.”

Y6 101

“First of all, we have the 101 class that is great for beginners,” Ingram said. “Most studios don’t have a class or a weekly class for beginner students. So if you’re really nervous, if it’s your first time, that’s the class for you.”

Y6 Slow Flow

“Slow Flow is a great class for alignment. We move slowly,” Ingram said. “All of our teachers are expertly trained and very experienced, so they can help you with your alignment and where your body should go in the postures.”

Y6 Signature

“Then we have Y6 Signature, which is a set sequence, so it’s the same every time,” Ingram said. “Students really love this class because when you first come, it might be really hard and it can stay kind of hard, but then you start to really refine your postures.”

Y6 Restore

“Our Restore actively moves the body and warms up the spine, the lower and upper body, before we get into some longer health stretches,” Ingram said. “Restore is really good, especially if you’re tight.”

Y6 Sculpt & Flow

“Our most popular class is Y6 Sculpt and Flow,” Ingram said.

“We have weights, we have bands. It’s a yoga warm-up, a yoga cooldown, and in-between we have compound weighted exercises. You might be surprised to hear that that could help with back pain, but a lot of times back pain is due to like a really flexible low back. So, finding strengthening, especially in the areas around the low back, will really help alleviate pain.”

Y6 Power Flow

Y6 Power is a really fun, it’s always different, creative sequence class,” Ingram said. “So once you get established in 101, take a couple Slow Flows, Relax and Restore, you’ll be ready for Power.”
