HENDERSONVILLE, N.C. (828newsNOW) — In a commemoration for the 12 Henderson County lives lost during Hurricane Helene last fall, a special ceremony will be held at the Henderson County Courthouse on Saturday, Sept. 27.
Remembering the lost
The ceremony, scheduled on the one year anniversary of Helene, will be held at noon on Saturday, Sept. 27 at the Henderson County Courthouse, 200 N Grove St.
A county-wide moment of silence will be observed as the courthouse bell rings 12 times for the 12 Henderson County residents who died during Helene.

Additionally, on Friday, Sept. 26, Henderson County government will present a documentary titled “Remember Helene” on social media and www.hendersonvillenc.gov. The documentary will feature the voices of city government members and capture the days leading up to and following the storm, as well as the region’s continued journey toward recovery today.
