ASHEVILLE, N.C. (828newsNOW) — The Manhattan Short Film Festival is an annual showcase of 10 short films from all over the world. Previous festivals have seen documentaries, animation, star-studded casts and Oscar-winning entries, with awards for the best films decided by ballots cast by the audience.
This weekend, Manhattan Short will return to Pack Memorial Library for the first of four free screenings of this year’s festival lineup.
What to expect at Manhattan Short
Manhattan Short shows at Pack Library will include:
- 3-5:30 p.m., Friday, Sept. 26
- 1-3:30 p.m., Saturday, Sept. 27
- 5-7:30 p.m., Tuesday, Sept. 30
- 1-3:30 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 4
Though the screenings are free, pre-registration is required for each showtime. Click the showtimes above to register.
The festival is intended for ages 14 and up. The program will last about two-and-a-half hours with an intermission held in the middle.

Audience members will pick up ballots to vote for Best Film and Best Actor, the winners of which will be announced on the Manhattan Short website at the conclusion of the festival’s global run later this fall.

Pack Library will offer refreshments at the event, though outside food is welcome to enjoy in the auditorium space.
