MARION, N.C. (828newsNOW) —
A man who was arrested after he was seen driving a vehicle that belonged to a dead man is facing more charges related to the incident.
Scotty Keith Styles, 48, was arrested April 24 by McDowell County Sheriff’s Office deputies and U.S. Marshals after Black Mountain police officers provided information that Styles was operating DeAndre “Desmond” Clark’s vehicle on April 23 in Black Mountain. Clark’s body was found by McDowell County sheriff’s deputies earlier that day behind an abandoned business on Batcave Road.
At the time, Styles was charged with felonious larceny and felonious breaking or entering of a motor vehicle.
MAN CHARGED AFTER BEING SEEN DRIVING DEAD MAN’S VEHICLE
On Monday, June 10, the McDowell Couty Sheriff’s Office said in a news release that Styles has also been charged with three counts of felonious financial card theft, felonious larceny of a firearm, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and felonious concealment/failure to report a death. Styles was issued a $20,500 secured bond.
Clark, 22, was reported missing by his mother on April 19 after last being seen by her around 3 p.m. April 18 at the Hillcrest Apartments in Asheville, Asheville police reported.
McDowell County authorities have not released a cause of death for Clark.
