ASHEVILLE, N.C. (828newsNOW) —

A woman accused of stabbing two women during a fight at an apartment complex on Atkinson Street earlier this month turned herself into the Buncombe County Detention Facility on June 11, Asheville police said.

Mercedes Margreit Morgan, 23, was booked into the jail under a $75,000 secured bond and has since been released, police said in a news release.

Officers responded about 2:37 a.m. June 2 to Mission Hospital to investigate two women with multiple stab wounds who sought medical treatment, Asheville police said in a news release at the time. One of the victims was in critical but stable condition, while the other suffered non-life-threatening injuries.

Following the assault, one of the victims was able to drive them both to Mission Hospital, police said.

WARRANTS ISSUED FOR SUSPECT IN ASHEVILLE DOUBLE-STABBING

Two days later, the Asheville Police Department asked for the public’s help locating Morgan, who was facing three charges in the case, the news release said.

According to the release, Morgan was charged with:

  • Assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill, inflicting serious injury
  • Assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious injury
  • Carrying a concealed weapon

According to that news release, “Both victims are expected to recover.”
