ASHEVILLE, N.C. (828newsNOW) —

A woman arrested while attempting to break into an east Asheville business early Tuesday morning is accused of breaking into another business and trying to break into a security vehicle.

Officers responded to the 600 block of Tunnel Road about 5:45 a.m. Tuesday, June 18, to investigate a a business break-in, an Asheville Police Department news release said. When officers arrived, they found Rachael Lynn Stephenson and took her into custody.

Stephenson, 41, was transported to Mission Hospital for treatment of injuries officers believe she sustained during the break-ins, the news release said.

Rachael Lynn Stephenson faces numerous charges related to business break-ins off Tunnel Road.

Officers believe Stephenson had also broken into a second nearby business and attempted to get into an occupied security vehicle on the premises, the news release said.

Stephenson was charged with:

  • Felony breaking and entering
  • Larceny after break/enter
  • Break or enter a motor vehicle
  • Injury to personal property
  • Second-degree trespass
  • Injure/tamper with vehicle
  • Resisting public officer

Stephenson was booked into the Buncombe County Detention Facility under a $20,000 secured bond.
