ASHEVILLE, N.C. (828newsNOW) — Two people were shot at Spruce Hill Apartments in the Haw Creek neighborhood of East Asheville today, Thursday, April 14.
What happened at Spruce Hill Apartments?
According to the Asheville Police Department, a suspect has not been apprehended, but the area is not considered an active shooter zone.
APD Public Information Officer Rick Rice said that one of the victims was shot in the head and the other in the abdomen. While the condition of the victims is unknown, Rice said both were alive when officers arrived at the scene and at the outset of transport to Mission Hospital.
Rice said that Haw Creek is not in an active shooter scenario and that the suspect is suspected to have fled the neighborhood.
“The circumstances surrounding the incident are unclear, but we don’t believe the person is still in the area. We are actively looking, there is nobody in custody,” Rice summarized.
