ASHEVILLE, N.C. (828newsNOW) — Asheville Police Department has confirmed responding to multiple reports of fighting juveniles during the Downtown After 5 concert last week.
After hearing rumors of a stabbing at the Juneteenth Celebration concert on Friday, June 19, 828newsNOW reached out to APD for more information.
According to APD Public Information Officer Rick Rice, officers responded to the calls around 8:15 p.m., June 19, in the 120 block of College Street, located within a block of the Pack Square Park stage where Downtown After 5 is hosted.
“APD responded to multiple calls of fights in progress between unsupervised juveniles,” said Rice. “During that time, a juvenile showed an officer a minor cut on his hand. The victim refused treatment and walked away.”
According to Rice, no juveniles were arrested and several were released to the custody of their parents with “determinations on possible further action to be made by the Department of Juvenile Justice.“
