ASHEVILLE, N.C. (828newsNOW) — Asheville police say investigators have identified several suspects and co-conspirators, recovered what they believe is the vehicle used in the deadly Biltmore Avenue shooting and uncovered forensic links to other gun violence cases in Western North Carolina as the investigation continues.

The update comes nearly two weeks after the July 19 shooting in the 250 block of Biltmore Avenue near Short Coxe Avenue. Two people were killed and seven others were injured in what police have described as a retaliatory attack connected to an ongoing conflict.

In an update provided to 828newsNOW, the Asheville Police Department said investigators have seized several pieces of critical physical and digital evidence since the shooting.

“Our investigators and all of our law enforcement partners have been working around the clock since the shooting to develop leads in this case,” police said.

Authorities said they believe they have located and seized the vehicle used in the shooting.

Investigators also said they have identified several suspects and co-conspirators believed to be connected to the case.

Police said forensic personnel have linked the Biltmore Avenue shooting to other incidents of gun violence in Western North Carolina. Authorities did not identify those cases or say whether additional charges have been filed.

The latest developments build on information police released earlier this week, when investigators announced the arrest of 19-year-old Marqua Amryie Lamar Davis in connection with the July 5 shooting at Maple Crest Apartments.

Police have said the July 5 shooting was connected to the Biltmore Avenue attack and described the July 19 shooting as retaliation related to that earlier incident.

According to investigators, the July 19 shooting was not a random act of violence and involved individuals connected through an ongoing conflict.

Police said the investigation remains active and that detectives will continue pursuing those involved until those responsible are brought to justice.

Authorities thanked community members who have already provided information and continue to urge anyone with additional details to come forward, even if they believe it may seem insignificant.
