MARION, N.C. (828newsNOW) — Verquan Durell Young, 29, was charged with felony assault inflicting serious bodily injury following an altercation that left another man with a broken nose.
On Thursday, July 16, Deputy James Day with the McDowell County Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of an assault at a Marion residence.
Once he had arrived, Day spoke with the victim, who reportedly had blood on his face and a visible deformity to his nose. The victim stated that Young had physically assaulted him after a verbal altercation.
After an evaluation at Mission Hospital McDowell, it was confirmed that the victim had sustained multiple fractures to his nose.
Young was arrested on Friday, Sept. 11, 2026, and was transported to the McDowell County Detention Center for processing.
