HENDERSONVILLE, N.C. (828newsNOW) — From sultry jazz to funk, bluegrass, country blues and rock, Hendersonville’s Rhythm & Brews summer concert lineup is meant to broaden musical horizons with free monthly shows in the heart of the historic downtown.

The City of Hendersonville’s Downtown Program this week announced a lineup that includes:

* June 20: Queen Bee and The Honeylovers (swing/blues/jazz), with Peggy Ratusz & Daddy Longlegs (blues/swing).

* July 18: The Fritz (funk/soul/rock) with The Big Hungry (blues/rock/funk).

* Aug. 15: Empire Strikes Brass (brass/funk/rock) with Zydeco Ya Ya (Zydeco/Cajun swing).

* Sept. 19: Vaden Landers (country blues) with The Matlocks-Johnson Band (blues/rock).

* Oct. 17: Darren Nicholson (bluegrass) with The Wilder Flower (folk/Americana/bluegrass).

The concert series is presented by Horizon Heating & Air on the third Thursday of each month at the south end of Hendersonville’s Main Street. Opening acts start at 5:30 p.m. each night, with headliners performing from 7:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m.

According to a release, it will feature food trucks, a Kids Zone filled with activities and games, and, for the adults, a beer and wine garden featuring locally crafted drinks from Sierra Nevada Brewing Co., Bold Hard Rock Cider, Guidon Brewing Co., Oklawaha Brewing Co., Dry Falls Brewery, Saint Paul Mountain Vineyards and Flat Rock Cider Co.

The non-profit Friends of Downtown Hendersonville will share in net proceeds from adult beverage sales for its programs boosting the downtown business district.

There’s also a “Super Fan Tent” sponsored by We Sell WNC Realty, where fans can watch from the shade with beer, wine and catering by Chef Alex of Feta Flav Greek Taverna. It’s reserved for people who purchase a season package sponsorship of $300 for two people.
