Fletcher – Geneva “Roberta” Gasperson Cordell, 83, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, July 23, 2024, at AdventHealth Hendersonville.
A native of Buncombe County, she was a daughter of the late Guy Henry Gasperson and Geneva Mae Harrison Gasperson, and the wife of the late Clarence Vernon Cordell. She was also preceded in death by her daughter, Teresa Roberta Maynor; son, Clarence Vernon Cordell, Jr.; sister, Evelyn Brock; and brothers: GB Gasperson, and Tony Gasperson.
Roberta was a longtime member of Biltmore Church. She worked in accounting for many years for many businesses including her own business, R&E Accounting. She loved the Lord and always put her family’s needs above her own. She will be greatly missed.
Surviving are her son, Gregory Phillip Cordell; grandchildren: Jackie Lynn Smith, Michael Cordell, Kylie Waddell and husband James, and Matthew Phillip Cordell and wife Katelyn; great-grandchildren: Tyler Davis, Alyssa Davis, Paislee Cordell, Jessica Smith, Aaron Smith, Jacob Smith, Nikki Smith, and Anthony Smith; brother, Clifford Gasperson and wife JoAnn; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, July 30, 2024, at Fletcher First Baptist Church, with Pastor Kelvin Mosley officiating. A private burial will follow at Emma’s Grove Baptist Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 1 till 2 p.m. on Tuesday at the church.
