Asheville – Donald Layne Worley, 80, of Candler, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, July 25th, 2024, at the CarePartners Hospice Solace Center.
A lifelong resident of Buncombe County, he was the son of the late Earl Bascombe Worley and Flora Louise Jenkins Worley. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Charlene Worley; brother, Charles Worley; and sister, June Rice.
Donald was a former employee of the Army store in Candler NC. He also was a former employee of Discount Shoes and Jarmans Shoe of Asheville, NC. He was a long-time member of Starnes Cove Baptist Church. Donald had a great sensor of humor, loved to make people laugh and smile, and was a jokester until the end.
Surviving him are his twin brother, Ronald Worley and wife Pauline; two daughters: Kimberly Hawkins and husband Doug, and Tara Whiteside and husband Jeff; stepdaughter, Amber Davis; two granddaughters: Amanda Edwards and husband Chris, and Allison Hawkins; three great-grandchildren: Emma Anderson, Emmy, and Andrew Edwards; and many more family members not mentioned and friends!
Memorial services will be announced.
In lieu of flowers donations can be made in his loving memory to Starnes Cove Baptist Church, 149 Starnes Cove Road Asheville, NC 28806.
