Aileen Rae King Buckner, 88, was born April 30, 1936 to DeKoven and Mary Margaret Clay King in Virginia Beach, VA and entered into Heaven on July 24, 2024 but had called Alexander, NC home for the past 35 years.

Aileen grew up in her family’s business Flowers by King in Virginia, VA. She was a 1954 graduate of Oceania High School in Virginia Beach, VA, she was a member of NCECA, Girl Scouts of the USA for more than 50 years and The Benevolent Patriotic Order of DOES.

Aileen was wry, crafty and artistic she could take anything and turn it into a beautiful creation. It was a joke that she wasn’t a hoarder just a curator of an extensive craft supply.

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband Mitchell Buckner, brothers DeKoven and Cash her sister Corinne and sister-in- law Sally. She is survived by a daughter Sherri Lewis (Paul) of Chesapeake, VA a sister-in-law Joy Bright (Tommy) of Alexander, her Carolina daughter Cindy Harmon (Danny) of Leicester and a special friend Marsha Pace of Asheville.

A small committal service is planned for Saturday August 3 at 11 a.m. at the Church of the Redeemer, 1201 Riverside Drive in Asheville, NC.
