Duke Energy officials are reporting that energy will be restored to the entire area by Friday.

Thousands of linemen have been working day and night to restore power to the areas that have been affected by Hurricane Helene. Crews have been working with state and local officials to get access the hardest-hit areas where roads are obstructed. According to a message on Duke Energy’s website, they expect that the majority of customers in these areas will have power by tonight at midnight.
Duke Energy reported 16331 outages across the Carolinas affecting 879,539 customers — 338,000 of those were in North Carolina.
Haywood EMC reported 122 outages affecting 19780 customers.

Approximately 900,000 people in North Carolina remain without power due to Hurricane Helene. Widespread flooding and downed power lines continue to impact areas across the state, particularly in Asheville and surrounding counties. Crews are working to restore electricity, but recovery efforts are expected to extend over the coming days.
Duke Energy reported 20,216 outages across the Carolinas affecting 901,491 customers — 328,564 of those were in North Carolina.
Haywood EMC reported 113 outages affecting 20,216 customers.
