Asheville –Judith “Judy” Rhea Banks Herron, 83, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, September 24, 2024, at Emerald Ridge Health Care Center.
A native of Madison County, she resided in Buncombe County most of her life. She was a daughter of the late Lewis Elbert “L.E.” Banks and Virgie Beulah Rhea Banks. She was also preceded in death by her siblings: Willis “Willie” King Banks, Robert Banks, Lawrence Banks, Louise Huey, Bernice Mackey, Theo Wise, Louella Penley, Marietta Cogburn, Marjorie Penley, and Louis “Buddy” Banks.
Mrs. Herron was a longtime member of Victory Baptist Church and retired from Square D in 1997. She was passionate about singing, loved going to church, and enjoyed spending time in her flower garden. She loved her family and will be greatly missed.
Those left to cherish her memory are her loving husband of 50 years, David Lawrence Herron; daughter Ginger Costa and husband Michael; stepson, David Lawrence Herron, Jr.; grandsons: Joseph William Bourne (Jenn Aguirre), and David James Bourne and wife Emily; great-grandson, Jasper Joseph Bourne; sisters: Alice Bowlin, and Carol Young; and by many nieces, nephews, and extended family.
Services will be announced. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in her memory to the Meals on Wheels Ministry at Victory Baptist Church, 80 Olivette Rd, Asheville, NC 28804.
