ASHEVILLE, N.C. (828newsNOW) — Federal officials will be in Asheville on Tuesday to talk with business owners whose livelihoods were devastated by flooding from the remnants of Hurricane Helene.

Small Business Administration Administrator Isabel Guzman plans to tour the Biltmore Village and River Arts District areas, a spokesperson from her office said.

Guzman will then head to the Asheville Chamber of Commerce, where a Business Recovery Center has been set up. Business owners can receive guidance on disaster loans or any support needed for recovery efforts. The recovery center is open 9 a.m.-6 p.m. Monday through Friday and 9 a.m.-3 p.m. Saturday.

Mountain BizWorks on Monday announced the creation of WNC Strong: Helene Business Recovery Fund, which is being established with an initial $7.5 million from the Golden LEAF Foundation. Mountain BizWorks and program partners hope to secure additional funding capacity in the coming days and weeks.

Impacted small businesses will be able to apply for loans up to $100,000 to help meet immediate needs and bridge to longer-term relief resources from SBA disaster loans, FEMA assistance, insurance and other sources.
