BLACK MOUNTAIN, N.C. (828newsNOW) — The Black Mountain Police Department has been named the North Carolina Police Executives Association’s 2026 Law Enforcement Agency of the Year, a statewide honor recognizing agencies that implement innovative programs or policies to enhance professionalism and strengthen community trust.
The award was presented during the North Carolina Police Executives Association’s annual summer training conference in Wilmington. The association recognized Black Mountain police for their dedication to public service, innovation and their commitment to building relationships within the community, particularly through programs focused on youth.
Black Mountain Police Chief Steve Parker said the recognition reflects the hard work and dedication of every member of the department.
“I have no doubt that we have the best team in the State of North Carolina,” Parker said in a statement. “This recognition is a direct reflection of your hard work and the pride you take in serving our community each and every day.”
The department also recognized Officer Raquel Smith for her artistic contributions that helped bring the agency’s award submission to life and Adriana Stewart for developing a storyline that highlighted the department’s community impact.
Police officials said the award represents the teamwork, compassion and commitment to excellence shown by officers and staff throughout the department.
“This award belongs to every member of the Black Mountain Police Department,” the department said in its announcement. “Your teamwork, compassion, commitment to excellence, and willingness to continually innovate are what make this agency truly exceptional.”
The department thanked the Black Mountain community for its continued support and said the honor reinforces its commitment to serving residents and maintaining strong community partnerships.
