ASHEVILLE, N.C. (828newsNOW) — STEAM Day, a free, family-friendly event featuring all sorts of science, technology, engineering, arts and math, will be held this weekend at Nesbitt Discovery Academy.
The Buncombe County Schools event will be held from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., Saturday, March 14 at Nesbitt, 175 Bingham Road.
STEAM Day is scheduled right on time for Pi Day, the celebration of the mathematical constant π.
“Our theme this year is ‘Infinite Curiosity, Infinite Digits,’ which represents the many activities happening on 3-14, Pi Day, which celebrates the mathematical constant of 3.14,” said BCS Science Specialist Kate Whittier. “We want to inspire students to celebrate the endless wonder of pi through hands-on activities that spark imagination, innovation, and problem solving.”

Activities at STEAM Day this year will include the Asheville Museum of Science Geo Dome, Animal Ambassadors from the WNC Nature Center, and demonstrations from Buncombe County Schools Lego Robotics teams.
Families can also enjoy concessions from 6 Pigs BBQ, Bigfoot Longs, Travelin’ Tom’s Coffee Truck and Kona Ice.
The event is supported by the Buncombe County Schools Foundation.
