WEAVERVILLE, N.C. (828newsNOW) — While past celebrations were held at Lake Julian Park, Buncombe County residents are invited to watch Fourth of July fireworks this year at North Buncombe Fields in Weaverville, N.C.

The celebration will begin at 5 p.m. with fireworks at 9:15 p.m. on Saturday, July 4, at North Buncombe High School, 890 Clarks Chapel Road, Weaverville.

What to expect at the Weaverville Fourth of July event

Residents are invited to enjoy live music from Mission Accomplished and Fuzzy Peppers, food trucks, face painting and community fun at 5 p.m.

Lawn chairs and blankets are encouraged. Fireworks will launch from the northwest end of the fields.

Why did the Buncombe County Fourth of July event move from Lake Julian?

According to a Buncombe County Parks & Recreation press release, the event was shifted away from Lake Julian Park because of access issues derived from area construction.

However, Lake Julian Park will be open for visitors from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. on the Fourth of July.
