ASHEVILLE, N.C. (828newsNOW) — Novant Health has completed the final phase of its South Asheville Medical Park, adding an imaging center and outpatient surgery center that are expected to begin serving patients this fall.
Novant Health marked the completion of the project with a ribbon-cutting ceremony Wednesday, Sept. 23.
The medical park, at 1815 Hendersonville Road, brings several health care services under one roof, including women’s specialty care, cancer care, plastic and reconstructive surgery, imaging and outpatient surgery.
The campus is home to Novant Health Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery, Novant Health Women’s Specialty Care, Novant Health Imaging South Asheville, Novant Health South Asheville Outpatient Surgery and Messino Cancer Centers. ARA Health Specialists also provides diagnostic imaging interpretations and outpatient breast procedures at the site.
The imaging center currently offers screening and diagnostic mammograms, breast ultrasounds, contrast-enhanced mammography and breast biopsies. Novant Health said PET/CT scans and bone density imaging will be added.
Dr. Stan Fuller, senior vice president and physician in chief for Novant Health Surgical Institute and Western North Carolina, said putting the services in one location is intended to make it easier for patients to move from diagnosis to treatment.
“South Asheville Medical Park is about more than adding services. It’s about creating a more seamless healthcare experience,” Fuller said.
The new ambulatory surgery center will provide outpatient surgical procedures, expanding the services available at the medical park.
The project transformed a former Gold’s Gym into more than 38,000 square feet of clinical and procedural space.
Novant Health said the project is part of its broader effort to expand health care services in Western North Carolina.
