ASHEVILLE, N.C. (828newsNOW) — It’s been a rainy, rainy week, so naturally many people will be wanting to get out of the house this weekend.

Hillbilly Jam
Kick off your shoes, dance to the music and enjoy the moonshine spirit at the Hillbilly Jam from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. from Friday to Saturday, July 26 and 27 at Maggie Valley Festival Grounds. Hillbilly Jam features loads of entertainment, music, food, crafts, cornhole, car & bike show, TV Celebrities and moonshiners.

Summer Skate Jam
Show your skating skills and jam to the music! Rent skates for $3 or bring your own. There is no fee to participate.

Field Day AVL
Grab your little ones and head to Asheville for a fun day in the sun in the outdoor field space at the Asheville YMCA!
Field Day AVL is a guardian/child event that consists of team oriented events such as 3-legged race, water balloon toss, timed dash sprint, long jump, and more. Guardians and children will act as a team to compete in these events. Water play and other skilled games will also be included. This event is free and open to everyone! Square Dance Brevard
Square Dance Brevard is a monthly family-oriented and community wide mountain square dance with great professional callers and live music provided by some of the most talented mountain music musicians in our area.
The dance is open to people of all ages and you do not have to have a dance partner or any previous square dancing experience to participate. Admission is $5 or whatever you can afford to donate. A portion of the proceeds will go to a Transylvania County family in need. Click here for more details.
40th Anniversary Celebration for Asheville’s Gallery of the Mountains
Asheville’s Gallery of the Mountains is celebrating 40 years! They’re holding a customer appreciation weekend on July 27 and 28 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., where guests can enjoy local artist demonstrations, complimentary wine (while supplies last), and pick up unique gallery items at a 10% discount.
The gallery is nestled within the Omni Grove Park Inn with around 70 artists and craftspeople from the Southern Appalachian region showcased. Click here for more details.
