HENDERSONVILLE, N.C. (828newsNOW) — Hendersonville’s Christmas parade, organized by the Hendersonville Merchants & Business Association, is set for 6 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 7, in downtown Hendersonville.

The parade viewing area extends along Main Street from 5 Points to the Kanuga/Caswell Street intersection.

No parking will be allowed in the west side spaces of the 100 block of Main Street directly in front of the historic courthouse on Saturday to allow for set up. No parking will be allowed after 3 p.m. on Main Street between 6th Avenue and Kanuga/Caswell. At 4 p.m., Main Street and the avenues will shut down to vehicle traffic to allow barricades to be set up. Before the parade begins, detours will divert traffic away from downtown.

Parade staging will occur on Oakland Street, Bearcat Boulevard and portions of Asheville Highway once the detours begin.

Parade detours:

  • Motorists approaching the parade area will be directed to a detour route.
  • Southbound traffic traveling toward downtown on Asheville Highway (U.S. 25) will be diverted to Fleming Street for Highway 64 Wes and Church Street connections.
  • Commercial truck traffic traveling inbound on Four Seasons Boulevard (U.S. 64) will be rerouted via Duncan Hill to reach Asheville Highway (U.S. 25).
  • Immediately before the parade, South Main Street will close for the parade unloading area

The streets will reopen approximately 30 minutes after the parade’s conclusion to allow attendees time to disperse.

Jingle Jog 5k – Saturday, Dec. 14

The 5K run/walk event starts at 9 a.m. on the 500 block of Main Street. A street closure of the 500 block will occur to accommodate the race, with the street closure starting at 6 a.m. The course travels through downtown, and motorists should stay alert for race participants during the event. Holly Jolly Train Rides – Saturday, Dec. 21

Parking spaces in front of the courthouse will be closed. Mountain Fresh Orchards will provide holiday train rides on Main Street from 5 to 8 p.m. Hop on the train at the Historic Courthouse, where they will have fresh baked and canned goods. Ellaberry Llama Farm will have a photo opportunity with two llamas and holiday cheer. For additional information, click here.
