ASHEVILLE, N.C. (828newsNOW) — Next week looks to be warmer and wetter. Rain overnight Sunday into Monday will likely linger into the morning commute.

Multiple storm systems will move across the area through Wednesday afternoon. According to the National Weather Service, the heaviest rainfall will develop across the area Tuesday evening through Wednesday afternoon, which could lead to localized flash flooding. Some of these storms could be strong to severe.

The forecast for the week, according to the National Weather Service:

  • Monday: Mostly cloudy, with a high near 60. South-southeast wind around 7 mph becoming west-southwest in the afternoon. Chance of precipitation is 70 percent.
  • Monday night: Mostly cloudy with a low around 46. Light south-southeast wind. Chance of precipitation is 30 percent.
  • Tuesday: High near 64. South wind 3 to 8 mph. Chance of precipitation is 90 percent.
  • Tuesday night: Low around 41. South wind 5 to 7 mph becoming northwest after midnight. Chance of precipitation is 90 percent.
  • Wednesday: Mostly cloudy with a high near 45. Chance of precipitation is 70 percent.
  • Wednesday night: Partly cloudy with a low around 23.
  • Thursday: Sunny with a high near 42.
  • Thursday night: Mostly clear with a low around 23.
  • Friday: Mostly sunny with a high near 47.
